Academic Advising

Academic advisors help students register for classes, choose a major, learn about degree programs and meet graduation requirements. At this page you can find out how to contact the advisors for each college. This is a great place to start if you need to select, add, and drop courses; understand NMSU policies and connect to resources that promote success in and out of the classroom.
American Indian Programs

American Indian Program provides advising and academic assistance; sponsors cultural and social events for students; assists with job placement and job referrals. All students are eligible to use these services. Computer lab is available in Garcia Annex, Room 132, 8AM-5PM.
Black Programs

The Student Success Center at Doña Ana Community College offers FREE tutorial services to credit enrolled students, to include dual-enrollment students. Subjects available for tutoring during these hours vary; appointments are required. Tutorial services are also offered at our satellite (East Mesa, Sunland Park, and Gasden) campuses; however, the hours and subjects offered at those campuses vary. Tutorial resources and assistance can also be found on the SSC web page.
Math Success Center

The Math Success Center provides tutoring for students enrolled in Math 111, 115, 180 or 185. Available resources include videotapes of course lectures; review programs for quizzes; computer programs with tutorials for algebra. Tutoring services are conducted in Room 99.
Student Success Center - Zuhl Library (SSC-Zuhl)

The SSC-Zuhl offers several services. Cross-Campus Advising helps facilitate students moving between colleges to complete a program of study leading to a career goal. It also offers the Campus Tutoring Service, which is walk-in tutoring offered for a variety of courses at either the SSC-Zuhl office or at the La Vista Learning Center in Garcia Hall. Finally, SSC-Zuhl houses the Quick Connect Early Alert System, providing student support through important resource referrals.
Student Success Center – Hardman (SSC-Hardman)

The SSC-Hardman offers walk-in visits and appointments to help students improve study skills including time management, note taking, memory and concentration, and test preparation. Students can receive assistance with preparation for standardized tests such as the GRE and MCAT. The SSC-Hardman also coordinates the Freshman Year Experience Program (UNIV 150) and Peer Education (UNIV 350). All students are eligible to use services.
Student Support Services TRIO Program (SSS)

SSS is a federally funded program that provides academic assistance to 350 participants. Assistance includes mentoring, tutoring, academic and financial aid advising. To be eligible, students must meet first generation and federal income guidelines or be a student with a disability and be registered with the SSD office at NMSU.
Testing Center

Professional testing programs are coordinated through this office. Testing booklets are available in racks outside Room 237 for pick-up at any time. Registration booklets and testing schedules are available for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, NMTA, MCAT, etc.
Veterans' Program

The Veterans' Program serves as the liaison between NMSU students and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs VA Regional Office. The program accepts and submits VA benefit applications, certifies students to receive VA educational benefits, verifies classes toward degree program, reports adjustments of student credit hours, and works with students to ensure no incidents of overpayment occur.
